Science Only Understands 1%!? The Trap of Logic and the 99% Unknown
"Science Only Understands 1%!? The Illusion Created by Logic and the Importance of Thinking for Yourself"
■ What is "Koshinto" (Ancient Shinto)?
Ultimately, Koshinto boils down to two simple things:
Nature Worship: Expressing gratitude to the Great Nature—the sun, the moon, the mountains, and the seas.
Ancestor Veneration: Remembering and honoring our ancestors.
That is all. It requires no complex knowledge or large sums of money. Simply remembering a forgotten loved one in your heart is a beautiful act of memorial.
We are alive today because countless ancestors existed before us. And yet, why is it that we are becoming unable to notice and appreciate the Nature and ancestors that are always there for us?
■ The "Illusion" Created by Logic and Theories
Originally, agriculture, science, religion, medicine, law, and philosophy were all subjects of faith—they were all interconnected as one. However, we humans began to interpret them arbitrarily, separating and dividing them. In the process, we ended up creating a confusing "illusion" (or negative force).
In short, we have created an excess of "logic and theories." Instead of worshiping nature, we shifted to a philosophy of "dominating" it—which is nothing short of a tragedy.
The Tragedy of Agriculture When we look at agriculture purely through logic and efficiency, we end up with chemical pesticides and genetic modification. Originally, humans could heal themselves naturally because they ate food rich in the energy of the heavens and the earth. Now, the modern human body has lost that innate power of self-healing.
The Limits of Science Some scholars flatly claim that "anything that cannot be proven by science does not exist." However, what we understand through modern science is less than a mere 1% of the whole. In other words, 99% of the world is "unscientific" (the unknown). Because we try to explain that 99% of the unknown with just 1% of logic, everything becomes "unexpected" when things go wrong.
■ The Trap of Religion: Stopping Yourself from Thinking
Religion is the same. When original teachings are interpreted and explained through "logic," people stop thinking for themselves.
What is right and what is wrong cannot be defined by logic alone. It truly depends on the heart of the individual receiving it.
However, when people rely solely on logic and stop their own critical thinking, they fall into the trap of believing that "only my teaching is absolutely correct." Consequently, they end up cutting themselves off from connecting with Mother Nature and its vast, universal energy.
